during 1993 and 1994, between shifts at selectadisc, blagging studio time from diy and looking for a new girlfriend, nail spent time at home with some borrowed equipment a tr-808, tb-303, boss delay pedal and a knackered spring reverb, plus his own korg ms10. recording live & straight to cassette, these acid-soaked sessions were given the name sentipede, after a friend at the time saying one of the tracks made them feel like they were being eaten alive by a giant creepy-crawly with lots of legs. selected from four d90 cassettes full of tracks, 99:wave presents the imaginatively titled one, with just 8 tracks over two slabs of grey vinyl.

it s a big honor that the former member and -minister of information- of underground resistance from detroit alan oldham aka dj t-1000 does a remix for this release. living between berlin and detroit, alan is a mastermind in electronic music and has pitched this track to a strong minimal -detroit meets berlin- version. the gunman remix is a more dramatic sub bass story. with snipped parts of the sigrid elliot vocals, a volumized organ and fx sounds, gunman gives you a blast for the dancefloor peak time. simon beeston, a music lover from new zealand who s also living in berlin, does a deep remix. with drums and a nice sub bass, he s showing his style.

bash006 comes courtesy of brendon moeller. one-third of bm/cc/cw, the collaborative project between brendon, clay, and certain creatures, brendon is a prolific producer of various excursions across the electronic spectrum. under such guises as the echologist and beat pharmacy, his intricate dub techno tracks have been released on a variety of labels over the last 20 years, such as francois ks deep space and prologue. pressing on red colored / black marbled vinyl.

st. petersburg resident kito jempere is back on dirt crew with his first full release after his debut album on fata morgana and a great ep on freerange last year. following his great contribution to our deep love series we now welcome him with these two unique tracks. ranging from house to disco and jazz influences, kito found his very own style and switches easily between them. up tempo and energetic tracks with great melodies, driving bass lines and clever sample use.

a collaboration between elias landberg and nihad tule. they started this conceptual project in november 2014 with the goal of record and master a complete ep in one day. the resulting analog jams are pretty different from each other. the a-side terrorfish is reminiscent of simplistic acid rave tunes from the 90s while the b-side halcyon is a dreamy ambient trip

hotflush unveils its second release of 2015 in the form of a collaborative single between label mainstay locked groove and ascendant italian duo mind against. with both acts coming off the back of triumphant finishes to 2014 the success of locked groove s huge enigma ep and mind against s surge into #33 position in resident advisor s 2014 dj poll - elysium / pulsar marks the first time the producers have collaborated. the end result combines locked grooves punchy, dancefloor-ready aesthestic and the emotionally resonant melodics that mind against have made their signature since breaking through with life and death in 2013

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. it is loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts.
kloof street diggin sees wd label honcho sleazy mcqueen team up with longtime dj cohort, romano arcaini for three super-sized re- edits of the highest order. each of these three songs are based around samples sourced during smq s recent tour stops in south africa. peace, love + harmony, the perfect track to segue between house and disco! flute and synthesizer call and response building to an unexpected vocal explosion.
on the flip, disco de moda, named after the johannesburg party with a decidedly digital disco bent, arps and chugs to robotic climax. finally, tidings are closed with the organic and synthetic, tied together in private life, a blend of flute and synth undulating to a psychedelic crescendo.

that place is a musical journey through the artists emotional and inspirational landscape! the 2nd opus is welcoming mzkbx (macadam mambo, skylax, karat) who lives in lyon (fr) and who is resident at le sucre. he brings here a taste of his musical roots. the a1 is a beautiful intro into a spacy world, the 2nd on the a side is between house & techno with a chicago vibes, jackin! on the flip, carresses magnetiques is a track full of pressure, an industrial atmosphere for bringing you higher and higher ! to conclude, 51 pegasi is a nice journey between deep sensations and 80s synths. early and massive support from laurent garnier.

out of rome, sofatalk soars high on this ep, feeling out the difference between a lifetime on earth or one really cool moment above it. the title track breathes and evolves via a series of flourishes on the playful side of things - this one is no beard stroker. cloudy soul keeps the optimism and front foot action rolling with an excursion slightly to the deeper end without ever fully taking the plunge. wrapping it up, on reflection is a tight little rhythm-box-driven number that takes you by surprise, transplanting you from the floor to the lower middle stratosphere without you realising. japanese producer 9dw then turns it into a hot stepper of its own, keeping the energy up there but differentiating the bounce.

it has been a long time between drinks for german band bambi - and it is something of a triumphant return, too. last time we heard from them, back in 2000, they were a post minimal rock duo comprising of guitarist/vocalist robin van velzen and drummer hans christian fuss. a decade and a half of live improvisation and a multitude of collaborations later, they return as a balearic rock four-piece. the bands newest members, former mountaineer man frank mollena and sofia fuss, were asked to join following a particularly successful series of live collaborations and improvisational jams. through balearic post-rock territory, with van velzens weary, emotional vocals riding a wave of vibrant colours, backwards hazy, intoxicating and evocative, it sounds like a horizontal anthem in the making. one sided, hand numbered, limited to 500 copies.

elektra release of charlotte gainsbourgs third studio album titled irm. the title is derived from m.r.i, which reflects the medical procedure charlotte had to go through after suffering a head injury in a water skiing accident in 2007. the album is charlottes most personal to date, and is produced by acclaimed grammy nominated artist/multi-instrumentalist beck. what started as a brief recording session between charlotte gainsbourg and beck ended up to be the body of work that is irm. over the course of a year and a half of writing and recording together, becks role grew to encompass all aspects of the creative process. he worked seamlessly with charlotte co writing the lyrics and produced and mixed the recording. (this is the first time he has ever been so involved in another artists work.)

jeroens commemorating his roots by re-releasing a selection of search records from days gone by. each has been remastered in such a way that it retains its authentic and timeless energy. pressed onto fresh vinyl, this limited series contains some of the finest search tracks ever to be put out, handpicked by jeroen himself. in light of that it might be easily forgotten that jeroen search has been creating techno since the early nineties. and that he ran one of the most influential labels around back then: >search<. between 1996 and 2001 it was home to a host of releases, many from jeroen himself. released on vinyl and without any reprints, they ve since hidden in the record collections of a select few.

undoubtedly & massive early 90s revival techno. both tracks spanning on their own full sides between several themes each - unlike much of todays poorly produced and reduced retro dance music. two other parts of this collaboration will be released on klasse wrecks and grafiti tapes respectively. blip!

caul is the new album from last harbour. based in the northern english city of manchester, last harbour play music with a dark, gothic heart yet their songs are always beautiful and transcendent. after working with producer richard formby (wild beasts, spacemen 3, ghostpoet) on two previous albums, the band took time out after touring to build their own studio in 2013. this new album was recorded in that self-created space over a year between 2013-4 and bears testament to a patient and detailed recording process that allowed time for experimentation and careful arrangement.

boston bun is back for 2015 with just for freaks, which is part 1 of a series of three eps dedicated to unrestrained underground clubbing. just for freaks 1 stays in the chicago house revival that boston bun established these past 2 years. the right balance between deep and ghetto music. a-side pleasure is a track that you can play very late in the darkest clubs. it drives us with unpitched voices and unleashed tr which succeed to a cut-up bass. b-side levitate flirts with lovely strummed music, almost nostalgic, interrupted by an harmonious and bouncy bassline. the lyric *you wanna play house some more?* sounds like the anthem of a neverending party. the vinyl ep includes a download code.

six months after their last installment, shir khan and exploited drop another hot to trot collection of disco edits. as usual, there is much to excite, beginning with the familiar guitar solos, rhodes keys and dub disco pulse of antilopes *singing ghost* rework. death on the balcony keep up the reverb and delay-laden dub disco theme on *addict for your love*, whose rubbery groove, twinkling pianos and heady vocals have been expertly rearranged to fit house dancefloors. finally, matpat go loop crazy on the thumping disco house cut *only you* which sits somewhere between rahaan and soundstream. excellent stuff all round.

for a brief moment turin was italys sheffield, producing an astonishing number of diy electronic groups. in the context of a wider europe, italy has never been thought of as a hotbed of minimal electronic music, but mannequin records compilations danza meccanica: italian synth wave 1982-1987 have shone a light on a scene little heard, even within italys borders. but the history was still incomplete ... some new horizons now must be unveiled, showing that between the years of 1982 and 1984, the city of turin in northwest italy was home to a quiet underground renaissance of experimental electronic music.
